Nancy White bringt, angeregt durch Michael Stephens Beschreibung eines “Librarian 2.0″, ein neues Rollenbild für Bibliothekare auf den Punkt: Librarians as Community Technology Stewards.
Was ist Technology Stewardship? In den Worten von Nancy White, Etienne Wenger (richtig, dieser Name dürfte allen bekannt vorkommen, die schon mal mit dem Konzept der “Communities of Practice” zu tun hatten) und John Smith:
Technology stewards are people with enough experience of the workings of a community to understand its technology needs, and enough experience with technology to take leadership in addressing those needs. Stewardship typically includes selecting and configuring technology, as well as supporting its use in the practice of the community.
Nur ein Beispiel: Stephen Downes kurze Antwort auf die rhetorische Frage, warum man an Schulen noch Bibliothekare benötige, scheint mir das Modell von Bibliothekaren als Community Technology Stewards wunderbar zu illustrieren.
Und wieder eingefallen ist mir diese ganze Technology Steward-Geschichte bei meinem Beitrag von gerade eben, in dem es letztlich auch um eine solche Rolle geht.
Ã?brigens wird Technology Stewardship auch als Tag in der Blogosphäre verwendet.
