Ein slowenischer Minister, Professor und Blogger über Open Access
Žiga Turk, Blogger (auf englisch und auf slowenisch), Minister sowie Professor an der Universität Ljubljana kritisiert die halbherzige Open-Access-Politik der EU und begründet hierzu eingangs in zwei Sätzen, warum Open Access erforderlich ist:
The bottom line is that in the scientific publishing process there is a decreasing value added by the publishers. The research is funded by the governments or the industry, performed by the researchers, papers are written and reviewed by them for free, only at the very end a publisher comes along that takes over the copyright, publishes the work and sells the journal at great expense to the community that created and edited the content for free.
So gut wird das Thema selten auf den Punkt gebracht.
Es bestätigt, daÃ? das Weblog eine Schule der Verdichtung aufs Wesentliche ist. Vor allem aber freut es mich, daÃ? hier a) mal wieder ein Universitätsprofessor bloggt und damit ein wenig zur akademischen Credibility des Mediums beiträgt; dieser Professor b) auch noch was Schlaues zu sagen hat; er c) zufällig auch gerade ein klitzekleines biÃ?chen politische Macht repräsentiert (Slowenien übernimmt im Frühjahr 2008 die EU-Ratspräsidentschaft); und d), daÃ? er trotz b) und c) wirklich bloggt — bei blogger.com, mit einem Standard-Template, also einer simplen Billiglösung, und mit Texten, bei denen kein Spin Doctor die Hand im Spiel hatte. Das ist den oben zitierten Sätzen anzumerken, aber sicherheitshalber sagt Turk das auch noch mal selbst:

Sorry for not replying in German, I understand quite well, but the grammar remains an opportunity to make a fool of myself.
Just want to thank you for the kind words. And yes, maybe I should do something about the template, but don’t have time to fiddle with CSS. The good old days of H1 H2 H3 P UL OL and LI are over
From my point of view, just leave the standard templates how they are. It’s a nice fit to your style of blogging “without consultation with the PR office”.
